Best part is, you can get there quite easily some spiders, like 3 or 4 over the whole trip, but getting a bow first is an option and then that's really no issue very early on. You could like on that, and only have 1 entrance, and a direct route to the Sunken City. A bit SouthEast of your location is the bridge. Don't forget to make a bed roll while your there because if you die you will re spawn back south and you will hate life. However traveling north is worth the risk.
When I was geared and had plenty of water and food I made the dangerous trek to this area of the map. I started out with a small base in the south. I made a similar trip recently more to the east with the water falls and statues. I don't like that spot however because the water there is bugged and you can just flat out walk through it and scorpions regularly come there.
